The threshold for the stamp duty holiday is set to change on July 1 – meaning you don’t have to pay tax on the first £250k.
Stamp duty rules in England are set to change next week when the holiday extension comes to an end.
The Chancellor first announced the tax break last July amid the pandemic to encourage the property market.
And in his 2021 Budget, it was extended from March 31 until the end of June – meaning homeowners don’t have to pay tax on the first £500,000.
But Rishi Sunak said to ‘smooth the transition back to normal’, the nil rate band will be £250,000 until the end of September.
This means homeowners who complete on the purchase of a sale before September 30 on properties up to that amount don’t need to fork out for the tax payment – making an expensive process a little cheaper.
